Nowruz--also known as Norooz--is the Persian New Year celebrated by Iranians, people of Persian descent, and people of the Baha'i faith. Like Chinese New Year, it's one of the many multicultural celebrations embraced by Vancouverites every year.

For celebrating Nowruz in Vancouver with the entire family, the biggest event is the Annual Fire Festival (Chaharshanbe Suri) held in West Vancouver's Ambleside Park. The free festival includes live music, fire jumping, Persian food, and dance performances.

The 24th Annual Fire Festival (Chaharshanbe Suri) is on March 18, 2014.
