The biggest craft fair in Western Canada, the Circle Craft Christmas Market is the grand-daddy of all Vancouver Christmas Markets. Taking over the Vancouver Convention Centre for five days every November, this enormous market features over 200 vendors, selling everything from glassworks and ceramics to toys, food, fashion, fine art, and jewelry. Plan for two to three hours to explore this market completely, and buy your tickets online for a $2 discount.

One note: Though the Circle Craft Christmas Market is a craft and artisan market, it is not an inexpensive place to shop. Prices will be comparable to usual retail prices, though here your dollars are supporting local and B.C. artists, artisans, and small businesses.

2. Christmas at Hycroft: November 21 - 24, 2013

The University Women’s Club of Vancouver's annual fundraiser, Christmas at Hycroft is a truly beloved Vancouver holiday tradition. Unlike other Vancouver Christmas Markets, this one combines unique gifts with abundant charm and sense of place: in addition to shopping, visitors get to tour the historic Edwardian Hycroft mansion (which is usually closed to the public), decked out in all its Christmas glory.

3. Vancouver Christmas Market: November 22 - December 24, 2013

Also known as the German Christmas Market, the Vancouver Christmas Market recreates an authentic outdoor German Christmas market village in downtown Vancouver, at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre Plaza. The market features unique holiday shopping, lots and lots of German-style Christmas ornaments, seasonal music and entertainment, and traditional German holiday food and drink. (Don't miss the gingerbread!)

While its lots of fun to browse the wares--which range from organic baby clothes to pottery--the Vancouver Christmas Market is just a fun experience, period, especially after 5pm, when the Christmas lights brighten up the night sky!

Takes place at the PNE Forum (2901 E. Hastings St.).
