Guide Review - Memphis Blues Barbeque House
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, my parents are die-hard Southerners. They now live in Seattle, where they endlessly lament their inability to get good Southern barbecue. The first time they came to visit me in Vancouver, I took them to Memphis Blues, and now it’s the only place they want to eat.
You know a Southern-style BBQ house is authentic--and delicious--when real Southerners can't get enough of it.
With its Tennessee memorabilia-clad walls and checkered table cloths, Memphis Blues has a super-casual family atmosphere, where you order and collect your own food and drinks from the counter and wipe your fingers on your table's paper towel roll. It's the perfect venue for its down-home menu of Southern classics, including pulled pork sandwiches, ribs, barbecue chicken, corn bread, and BBQ pit beans. The "small" sandwiches are big enough to sate the hardiest meat-eaters, and at $6.95 they're a real deal. But the best value--and the best way to try all the house specialties--is the Memphis Feast, a sampler platter big enough to feed four adults and only $34.95.
