Tomato Fresh Food Cafe serves tasty, organically-oriented breakfasts and lunches on Kitsilano's bustling W Broadway, but its dinners--especially the seafood--aren't worth the cost.

After 17 years on Cambie, Tomato Fresh Food Cafe relocated to Kitsilano and now boasts a terrific location just off W Broadway. Too bad the food isn't as terrific as the site.
The dinner menu changes seasonally--though their popular bouillabassse is constant. When I was there I had braised chicken stuffed with brie and prosciutto--which I thought was pretty good (the chicken was wonderfully cooked)--but my partner's halibut was terrible. Both dishes were around $24, and while the chicken was worth $20, that halibut wasn't worth $10.
Breakfast is much better, offering a range of decadent favourites, like classic French toast and an "Omelette Du Pacifique" that's stuffed with smoked salmon.
I can't understand why Tomato got an award for Best Neighbourhood Restaurant by Vancouver Magazine. If you've had a better experience with the place--or any experience--please add your own review!
