Arts Club Granville Island Stage History
Before Granville Island became the landmark destination it is today, it was a failing industrial park. The building that would eventually house the Granville Island Public Market began as a wood-framed machine shop. The building that would eventually house the Arts Club Granville Island Stage was first a chain factory.
When redevelopment began in the late 1970s, the Granville Island Stage was bought by the Arts Club Theatre Company in 1979. Since its opening, the Granville Island Stage has featured a wide range of productions, from musicals, comedies and dramas, to Canadian hits such as Reflections on Crooked Walking and It's Snowing on Saltspring.
