The Big Decision is the hit reality show where struggling Canadian businesses try to prove their worth to the show's investors, who decide whether or not to provide needed financing or let the businesses continue on their own.
After it's initial closing, Save-on-Meats was vacant for several years before it was "saved" by Gastown restaurateur Mark Brand (of Boneta and The Diamond) in 2011, a story chronicled in the reality show Gastown Gamble. Brand reopened the butcher counter, gave the building a million-dollar makeover, and opened a 40-seat diner. Though Brand's new Save-on-Meats has attracted loads of attention, the restaurant/butcher is sadly still struggling. Brand faces rising debt and the building needs additional renovations; the hope is that The Big Decision investors will step in to help save (again) Save-on-Meats.
We'll all see what happens next on November 27. If you miss The Big Decision on TV, you can watch it online at the CBC site.
