Buy Your Own Piece of Vancouver History: MOV Goes Retail

By November 7, 2012

Follow me on:

I'm so excited about this (I love local history/colour): MOV--the Museum of Vancouver--has teamed up with several local retailers to sell a small collection of wares inspired by Vancouver history. The collection, which you can view here, includes home decor items, bags, key chains, collectibles and beer glasses. My personal favourites are the Bus Scroll Area Rug and the Bus Scroll Pillow (pictured), which use the text from historic Vancouver bus scrolls as design. The Bus Scroll Pillow features a bus scroll that listed destinations along the Oakridge bus line in Vancouver from 1975 to 1985.

To be clear, the MOV retail items aren't available at MOV. Rather, individual items are on sale at various outlets around town. For example, the rugs are only available at Harvey Burritt's 2nd Century Rug Company (3594 Main Street), while pillows are at Country Furniture (3097 Granville Street) and Cascade beer glasses can be found at Main Street's Cascade Room. For a complete list of retailers--and which MOV products they sell--check the MOV Retail site.

I love the idea of the MOV retail items so much, I added them my list of Unique Vancouver Gifts & Gift Ideas.
