Susan Boyle Doubles Ticket Sales for Arts Club Les Mis
Last week's YouTube phenom Susan Boyle has given Arts Club Theatre's production of Les Misérables a big boost in ticket sales, according to The Vancouver Sun.
In case you're like my partner--who lives under a rock and only emerges for soccer and Formula 1--and don't know Susan Boyle, she's a Scottish singer whose rendition of Les Mis' "I Dreamed a Dream" on the TV show Britain's Got Talent has won her international acclaim and over 32 million hits on YouTube. You can see the performance here. (And get your tissue ready. It makes everyone teary!)
Here in Vancouver, Susan Boyle-listeners doubled ticket sales for the Arts Club Les Mis production last week. In thanks for the ticket sales, the Arts Club said in a press release that it would like to give Boyle her "first kiss."
(Don't know what "first kiss" means? Watch the video! And get out from under that rock!)
The Arts Club Theatre's Les Mis runs May 14 - July 19 at the historic Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage on South Granville.
