Wooden Boats, Kerrisdale Days & Ismaili Walk for Women - Weekend Picks

The weekend starts early for two of these great events--the annual Wooden Boat Festival and Kerrisdale Days--whose first day is Thursday, August 21. So get a jump start of the weekend of August 22 - 24 with some Thursday-night fun. Another plus: All these events are free.

  • 21st Annual Vancouver Wooden Boat Festival
    From Thursday, August 21 - Sunday, August 24, Granville Island hosts Vancouver’s annual Wooden Boat Festival. The festival has fun for the whole family, with ships of all sizes, kids’ boatbuilding, family boatbuilding, shanties, artisans and more.

  • Kerrisdale Days
    Kerrisdale celebrates its birthday with this three-day community event, from Thursday, August 21 - Saturday, August 23. There will be sidewalk sales, face painting, performers, horse and carriage rides, and birthday cake.

  • Ismaili Walk for Women 2008
    The Ismaili Muslim Community is partnering with the BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre Foundation to raise awareness and funds for the Women's Health Research Institute with this fundraising walk, Sunday, August 24, in Stanley Park. After the walk, participants and family can enjoy family activities and live entertainment.
